FAQS
What is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM)?
1
A CPM is a midwife certified by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) who specializes in out-of-hospital birth. I am also a Registered Midwife in Colorado.
What if I need to transfer to a hospital?
2
Transfers sometimes happen, and when they do, they are the best option for a healthy mom and baby. Our goal is a healthy mom and baby, not a home birth. If a transfer is needed, we will talk through what it looks like in detail, and I will be with you every step of the way. My scope is limited to low-risk and healthy women.
What happens at prenatal visits?
3
My prenatal care is personalized and evidence-based, with time to listen, answer your questions, and plan together. We discuss nutrition, mental health, exercise, and much more. We also take your vitals and listen to the baby. Visits are typically an hour. I see you every 4 weeks to start; once you hit 28 weeks, we see each other every 2 weeks, and at 36 weeks, we see each other every week.
Who attends the birth?
4
I attend your birth with a skilled assistant who serves as my second midwife.
